Earlier in verse 5, it says, “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.” We all know that is easier said than done.
Even when I tried to imagine what David was going through when penning this verse, I tend to overlook how difficult it must have been for him. Because I read the whole Bible, and I know David’s story turned out alright in the end, and somehow that made me think it was easier for him to wait quietly before God.
But how do you “wait quietly before God” with so much unknown and obstacle in front of you. I think verse 8 gives us some clue- “Pour out your heart to him.”
We can come boldly, honestly, unashamedly to him. God is so much bigger than we can imagine. Come with eloquent speech or lousy grammar sentences; God is fluent in all communication channels. And when we can’t find words to express our feelings or are too weak to utter a prayer, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.
